The investigation of zeta functions has a
fundamental place in many areas (number theory, algebraic geometry,
group theory, graph theory, dynamical systems, partial
differential equations...). Many problems from these areas
as problems of counting solutions of Diophantine equations
can be reformulated in terms of analytic problems of
zeta functions like meromorphic continuation, description
of poles, special values, etc...
This point of view, allows using the powerful analytic
and geometrical methods (residues, integral representations,
singularities, etc...) in these areas.
The focus of the workshop will be on some
recent advances in the study of zeta functions. We hope to help
the specialists in remote fields, linked by the use of
zeta functions, to exchange their experience.
This workshop is funded by the CNRS
and JSPS as part of the French-japanese
project "multivariables zeta
functions and applications" and by the Labo. of Mathematics
of Caen University (LMNO).

Location of the Workshop:
To get to the sciences 3 building
from the train station or the center of town, you can
take the tramway
(line A to Caen Campus II). The trip takes about 15 minutes from
the center of the city and the
last stop is in front of the Sciences 3 building. Tickets
must be bought from the machine
on the platform.
Here is a list of hotels
in Caen. Please reserve a hotel yourself directly. If you stay at a hotel,
please settle the bill directly with the hotel.
You can also reserve a student room on Campus II.
Meals:
Thursday and Friday lunch will be
served at one of the university restaurants near the conference lecture
room.
On Thursday evening, there will be a dinner at
a restaurant, located near the port and town center.
Please indicate on the registration email if you
wish to attend.
