Thème général : Ce projet a ses racines dans la théorie mathématique des tresses. Son but est de développer et d'étendre une des composantes principales de cette théorie, à savoir la structure de Garside, qui recouvre l'ensemble des propriétés algébriques liées à la décomposition des tresses en fractions et aux formes normales associées. Il s'agit d'élaborer une théorie unifiée des structures de Garside générales, et d'appliquer cette théorie dans les nombreux contextes où de telles structures apparaissent, en algèbre, géométrie, et topologie de basse dimension.

General aim : This project has its roots in the mathematical theory of braids. Its goal is to develop and extend one of the main components of this theory, namely the so-called Garside structure of braids. The latter consists of the algebraic properties involved in the decompositions of braids into fractions and in the associated normal forms. The goal of the project is to elaborate a unified theory of general Garside structures, and to apply it to the many situations of algebra, geometry, and low-dimensional topology where such structures occur.
