Mathematics and Mechanics masters degrees in Caen

Welcome to the Mathematics and Mechanics masters degree website

Starting with the academic year 2012-2013, our master degree is structured into four four-semester programmes, known as spécialités :
the Mathématiques et enseignement (ME, mathematics and education) programme;
the Mathématiques fondamentales et appliquées (MFA, pure and applied mathematics) programme;
the Mathématiques appliquées et sciences sociales (MASS, mathematics and applications to social science);
the Ingénierie mécanique (IM, mechanical engineering).

Students wishing to enrol in the first year (M1) must have successfully completed three years university studies and thus obtained a French licence or equivalent. Students wishing to enrol in the second year (M2) must have successfully completed four years university studies and thus obtained a French maîtrise or first year (M1) masters degree or equivalent.

Students are expected to enrol in one of the four programmes, each of which allows them to validate 30 European Credits per semester. All the programmes require a mixture of course work and project work. Further information about each programme can be found on the programme's website.

Although most courses are taught in French, some second-year courses of the pure and applied mathematics (MFA) and mechanical engineering (IM) programmes may be taught in English if there is sufficient demand.
