The pure and applied mathematics programme (MFA)

Caen is a French city with a population of just over 110,000 and lies at the center of a metropolitan area with a population of about 220,000. It is the capital of the Basse Normandie administrative region and is situated about 12km from the sea. The ciry lies about 230km north-west of Paris and the journey there takes about 2 hours by train. Although parts of the city were badly damaged during the second world war, Caen still has many important historical monuments and old quarters. Caen University was founded in 1432 and currently has over 24,000 students.
