The pure and applied mathematics programme
(MFA) offers a wide range of courses and project work in pure and
applied mathematics, and allows both first and second year students to
take a certain number of courses in computer science. It is primarily
intended for students who wish to go on to submit a PhD in pure or
applied mathematics or in cryptography, and also offers the possibility
for students with university degrees in mathematics to turn towards
computer science and mathematical engineering.
Two years study are required. During the first year (M1), all courses
are taught in French. Some second year courses may be taught in English
if there is sufficient demand.
External students are encouraged to apply directly for the second year
(M2), provided that they have obtained a first year masters degree or
equivalent, or expect to obtain it during the year before they intend
to come to study in Caen.
Further information is available from the programme coordinators.
